It seems I only ever get to writing an article on here when I crack a particularly specific problem that I can't find a simple answer on google. I guess that makes sense right? Hopefully this will help someone who needs a quickstart with playing with AOP but find out that the Community Edition of IDEA is impossible to configure for the AJC compiler. However we can do it manually with Maven and setup our Run Configurations to make it work nicely with both run and debug.
